Yo Asa the think tank idea I am feeling as it is something I have been wanting to do for a while.

I know this is nit picking, but why not AfroSphere, same logo (unless you can find an even bigger spear over a shield). Just a thought.
Anyway, let’s get this tank rolling. Keep me in the loop.

I find this Blog Site very interesting -a forum for learning, sharing and positive feedback.
I am looking forward to this discussion as it relates to our community. I find some of us (black community) doing things in our own small way to make a difference despite the barriers and challenges. I will love to hear from others how we, as a community, can adopt an effective strategy towards building a stronger community with one voice.

I really like this idea, and the spear convinces me of the power of the Afrosphere. Nonetheless, please have a look a (first-draft) graphic that I did on the benefits of the Blackosphere name vs. the Afrosphere name. (I did a first-draft in Paint with the idea of doing a better job in CorelDraw when I have a free moment.)
This is to help us think about the choice between Afrosphere and Blackosphere and to clarify why we make the choice we do. I posted four reasons that I like “Blackosphere”, but the advocates of “Afrosphere” such as yourself and Exodus Mentality are best placed to post the reasons for Afrosphere, so that we can unite with one name, or unite as one with two names that we use interchangeably, like “Black” and “African American”. I think unity and collaboration are more important than the choice of a name, and so I would never let the choice of a name (from among names that are arguably synonyms) dissuade me from pursuing the unity and collaboration. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p316/francislholland/Blackospherev.png

Watch Newt Gingrich call Spanish a “ghetto” language, and have a look at my latest Afrosphere-inspired blog layout : http://francislholland.blogspot.com/2007/04/newt-gingrich-call-spanish-ghetto.html

Thanks, Asabagna!
In a post entitled “It’s never sunny in Killadephia,” Field Negro expresses profound alarm at the level of intractable violence in our communities. Many of us are deciding that we want to unite ourselves and our blogs into an cohesive Afrosphere/Blackosphere movement to address the greatest problems that face our communities and our world. To that end, and in response to Field Negro’s article, I’ve posted an article entitled, “Can the Afrosphere Help to Reduce Urban Violence,” in which I brainstorm some fresh ideas about how our blog technology might be used to make our urban communities less violent.
Please tell me what you think. If you find one good idea among half a dozen, or see value in the new graphic, then it’ll have been well worth the effort.

Does the Afrosphere Demand a National Single-Payer Health Care System in which Everyone in America Has a Legal Right to Necessary Medical Treatment?

The Electronic Village is a proud member of the AfroSpear community! I look forward to seeing where our collective will takes us in the coming weeks and months.

No Plez, Looks like I am the last one coming in on the party. Great work is being done by everyone. As for youth violence in the community, I noticed here in Fort Worth, Texas, the Crips, who had been released from prison, recently held a community get-together to makes amends for the terror they reigned in the neighborhood back in the 1980s and 1990s. I wish that I could tell all the good local stories in reducing crime and violence. We are bringing our community back under control. How about you?
