I am a survivor of incestuous rape. Although my personal experience was not as violent as the above mentioned cases, it angered me as if they were ME! For so many years so many individuals have spoken against this atrocity but I feel like that 1. either no one cares
2. no one is listening
or 3. SOMEONE HAS TO YELL LOUDER TO GET THE MESSAGE OUT!!!!!!!
I have been guilty of trying to run from the memories and pain...and now I am tired. Instead of fighting within myself I will fight the fight for those that can no longer fight. The ones locked up becasue it happened to them, those that lost thier lives to the pain, and those who just dont know what to do. I WILL SCREAM TILL I NO LONGER HAVE A VOICE!!!!!

And rape is completely about power and I don't think it has a lot to do with sex itself. It just all about control, in my opinion.

*claps for Asa's post*

I am so glad to read this post because rape needs to be discussed. Our black communities refuse to discuss this topic. I applaud you for bringing it up. It is a violation of human rights and just disgusting.

Asa said "We Black men, who are both the primary perpetrators and protectors of our community, have to take it upon ourselves to stop it and stop allowing it to happen!"

EXACTLY! When black men come together against rape that is when substantial changes will come. I do think young boys will respond to men, father figures, male role models well. They will look at it as someone talking to them on a level. Of course black women have worked hard but I do think men talking to boys and mentoring them about respecting a woman's right to say no will help them to grow.
